The Nieuwmarkt is on the edge of the Red Light District and is dominated by the 15th century Waag. The square is surrounded by 17th and 18th century facades and has many nice cafés and restaurants. In summer the square is transformed into a big outdoor café where you can see all of colorful Amsterdam pass by.
